Most Recent Happenings

The most current events in our family have been the birthdays of Caden & Hunter.  Caden turned the exciting age of 16 and Hunter turned 14!  A word of warning to all drivers there is newly licensed young man in the Holmes household.
According to his Driver's Ed instructor he is an exceptional driver.  That is always a good thing to hear as a Mom!  His road test was quite an experience.  He had 2 additional students testing on the same 2 days with him.  Unfortunately, the young lady in the vehicle did not receive the same glowing report Caden did.  The instructor and the other 2 students were all very relieved to reach solid ground and say a final goodbye to their car-mate.  It was an eye-opening experience for Caden of 'what-not-to-do'!
Cade is now 16, legal to drive and date.
Hunter's birthday brought about the completion of a very large goal he had set for himself.  When he turned 12 years old he set the goal to earn the rank of Eagle Scout before his 14th birthday.  He is proud to say he achieved his goal.  We are ALL very proud of him for this achievement!  He had his Board of Review on Sept. 30th and was awarded his Eagle then.  We celebrated with his Eagle Court of Honor on Oct 17th.  He turned 14 the next day (yesterday).
This morning in the wee hours Hunter and Wade set off for the Teec Nos Pos Navajo Reservation in Arizona with our Aunt Zana to deliver, the approx 2000 books, he collected for their library.  (pictures to follow-the camera is in Arizona)
There's still more birthday fun to be had with cake and ice cream & family!
Love you boys!!!  I am so very proud of both of you and the young men you've both become!

A New Change in Scenery

Here we are, a new blog, a year later.  I let our last blog slip and slide into the land of the lost.  It was easily forgotten due to lack of time, as well as the ease of Facebook.  About a month ago I decided it was time for me to say a fond farewell to the world of Facebook.  It was not an easy thing to do.  I still miss it.  At times I find myself thinking I'll just log in & see what this friend is doing or if this friend's pictures are posted, etc.  However, what I don't miss is the many negatives of Facebook.  It has been a liberating thing to free myself of my need to be tied to that account.  I no longer have to worry how my written word might be interpreted or understood.   It can be a terrific social network.  It can also be a damaging social network.
So, enough about that!

I decided it was time to re-enter the blogging world.  Ours is a fast paced household where there is constant activities, daily events, weekly minor catastrophes, monthly miracles and constant tender mercies.  This will be my place to journal these things.  It will also be my place to share some of my personal thoughts and feelings on what's going on in the world around me and our family.  It will be an open and honest place, readers discretion advised.  (Just kidding)  I do tend to tell it like it is or how I see it.  I've come to realize not everyone is comfortable with that.  I was recently given the best )for me personally) compliment anyone could have given me.  I was told over the past 1-2 years I have changed.  I seem stronger, more sure of myself.  I'm not certain at the time and in the context it was meant as a compliment, however, inside I was jumping up and down that it was visible to others.  (a personal milestone)  Maybe I'll explain more about that another day.

There is so much to tell about the kids.  I will try to hi-lite the main events of each of the kids from the past year over the next few weeks.  They've all been very busy and have had exciting things going on!
Your comments will always be welcome.  I'll also get links to blogs we think you might like!  Thanks for reading .
